Out on a Limb

Trees “preach, undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life.”

~Herman Hesse

Welcome to “Out on a Limb,” which will contain essays, personal and otherwise; the occasional story; or general holding forth on a topic of the day.
I chose the blog title because writing for me is, indeed, being out on a limb.

About Rita

Rita Saylors

As an English professor, I had published academic writing, but it was not until retirement in 2012 that I began doing other kinds of writing with any frequency.  And even then, it took a writing group to provide incentive.

I want to thank Pat, Laura, Elizabeth, Thorpe, and former member Kendra for showing me that being out on a limb is, indeed, a joyful place.  And I especially want to thank dear friend and shirt-tail relative, Stacy, for setting up this blog and thereby providing a way to communicate with all of you out there.
